LAKE COUNTY, IL — A mobile COVID-19 testing site will be set up at Lake Zurich High School on Sunday following an outbreak that was recently tied back to the first day of a sports camp at the high school and recent social gatherings, health officials in Lake County said Friday. The testing site will be located in the parking lot at the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Church Street in Lake Zurich, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 12.

Health officials are urging anyone who may have been exposed to the virus to get tested for COVID-19, health officials said. The testing is free and open to all — even to those who are not exhibiting symptoms.

“This will help us identify positive cases and slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community," said Sana Ahmed, medical epidemiologist at the Lake County Health Department.

Know Before You Go

The Lake County Department of Health is reminding residents that testing at the mobile site in Lake Zurich is free and open to all regardless of symptoms and that residents do not need to be a student, faculty, staff or family member to get tested. Here is what else you will need if you stop out to get tested at the mobile site:

  • A phone number and name are required in order to receive testing results
  • Photo identification and proof of insurance are helpful, but not required
  • Those utilizing drive-thru testing must be seated at a functioning window
  • Once you get in line at the site, you will not be permitted to exit your car. The site will also accommodate walk-up individuals.

Other Testing Options

There are state-run community-based testing sites, including one located in Waukegan, at 102 W. Water St., and in Rolling Meadows, at 2901 Central Road, where people can be tested between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., 7 days per week. Testing at these sites is also free, according to health officials.

In addition, many healthcare providers in Lake County also have COVID-19 testing available. Anyone without a healthcare provider or insurance can contact the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center for an appointment at (847) 377-8800.
