Letter to the Editor: Let’s Get Lake Zurich “Poynton” in the Right Direction
Rich Sustich endorses Tom Poynton, independent candidates.

Tom Poynton and the Independent Trustee candidates offer LZ residents the real horsepower needed to create a lean and effective village government that is fiscally sustainable and resident and business friendly.
Poynton has served on the Board for six years and has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to do what it really takes to serve as an elected official. He worked to develop the Village’s first Strategic and Capital Improvement Plans in more than a decade, to ensure the Village invests wisely in the infrastructure our residents depend on. He took the lead in encouraging the annexation deal, paving the way for LZ to attract Mariano’s after Mayor Branding and village administration twice dropped the ball; a failure that caused the Village to spend thousands to clean up the mess.

Tom and Trustee Jeff Halen, who is running for reelection, have been leaders in the Board’s effort to achieve a balanced budget. In light of a current Mayor who readily admits she “doesn’t do numbers,” we need Tom and Jeff to continue this essential effort.
As for economic development, Tom created the “Market Lake Zurich” concept to attract new businesses and he knows how to “close the deal.” On downtown, Tom represents the Board in working with village staff and our development consultants. He and Jeff know what it will take to ensure downtown redevelopment covers the TIF debt. They are adamantly opposed to Brandings’ plan to create open space in downtown and dump the TIF debt on all the residents.

I support Tom Poynton for Mayor, and Jeff Halen, Jim Beaudoin, Mark Loewes, and Dan Stanovich for Trustees. They are Independent Candidates and Independent Minds.
Vote Independent on Tuesday, April 9.
