Police cite employees at two Lake Zurich businesses for selling alcohol to minors

The employees were caught in a county-wide check of alcohol laws

Employees at Copper Fiddle Distillery and Ania's Polish Deli received $50 citations for selling alcohol to minors, according to the Lake Zurich Courier.

They were caught in a county-wide alcohol compliance check, which tested 161 businesses in 12 Lake County communities. 13 violations were found.

Lake Zurich Police Chief Steve Husak said the village participates in the county-wide check twice a year to ensure compliance. The checks are usually conducted at times when police observe more underage drinking, such as football season, prom and graduation.

The citation is not a finding of guilt and the employees can challenge their citations in court.
