Rock the Block Returns to Lake Zurich in September
The village has released details on the Sept. 7 event.
Village of Lake Zurich:The Village of Lake Zurich is preparing to host its annual Main Street block party, Rock The Block, on Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. in the heart of Lake Zurich. Rock The Block is an outdoor festival where attendees can Dine, Dance and Discover Main Street Lake Zurich. Three live bands will take the stage for an evening of music, food, and fun for adults. Younger party-goers can visit the children’s area, located in Lions Park, for free face painting and balloon art from 5-7 p.m. Held on Main Street between Old Rand Road and Midlothian Road in downtown Lake Zurich; Main Street will be closed from Midlothian Road to Old Rand beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the event.
Lake Zurich Mayor Tom Poynton, Village Trustees and staff, local community leaders, and the public will attend. Musical entertainment will play on a covered stage on the corner of Old Rand Road and Main Street. Three bands will perform from 5 – 11 p.m. The night begins with Exit 147 at 5 p.m.; then Hello Weekend switches it up at 7 p.m. At 9 p.m.
regional country favorite, Bella Cain will take the stage. In addition to the bands, representatives from the Village of Lake Zurich’s German sister city, Nittenau, will be present for a brief on stage ceremony at 6:30pm. Admission to the event is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to donate five unopened, non-perishable food items to help restock Emmaus House ( https://emmaus-house.org/index... ). Anyone donating food will receive a raffle ticket to win prizes which include local establishment gift certificates valued at $1,000, a wine and dine gift basket valued at $650, and a household tools basket valued at $500. Drop off donations and purchase additional raffle tickets at the donation drop-off area next to the beer ticket sales booth located on Main Street. 100% of all raffle proceeds will benefit Emmaus House. Food trucks and local restaurants will set up along Main Street selling a variety of food options, including full meals, desserts, and snacks. No outside alcohol is allowed, and those wishing to consume alcohol will need to have their I.D. checked. Beer tickets are available for purchase at $4 for standard brands and $6 for craft beers. All wine and other alcoholic beverages are $6. Food vendors will sell water and soda, pricing varies.
No outside food, beverages, or coolers will be allowed into the event. Pets are also not allowed.
Rock The Block is the result of a continued effort by Lake Zurich Mayor Tom Poynton and the Village Trustees to bring more special events to the community, and in this case, specifically to Main Street Lake Zurich.
