Top 20 Chicago Suburbs for Ashley Madison Affairs

Who's No. 1 in the cheating heart department? If some hackers have their way, everyone could know a lot more than anyone bargained for.

Chicago-area suburbs that rank high on the clientele list for hookup site AshleyMadison.com have two qualities in common — residents with deep pockets and the freedom to get away from home.

And the Village of Burr Ridge — the upscale village of 10,000 residents, three-quarters of whom are married, many of whom live behind gated walls — outranks all other Patch towns when it comes to cheating hearts, according to data provided by the self-proclaimed “most famous name in infidelity and married dating.”

“The proclivity to cheat often goes hand in hand with opportunity. Those with discretionary income and freedom to travel are even more likely to stray,” says Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman.

Burr Ridge is followed by Plainfield, LaGrange, Oak Lawn, Deerfield and St. Charles for the greatest concentration of cheaters, per capita, on the Ashley Madison books.

Perhaps the most public of Ashley Madison’s suburban customers was this Orland Park man, whose many affairs, including one with a standup comic/private detective/mother of five received a public airing at his murder trial. He’s no longer a customer on the extramarital dating site ... because he’s in prison.

Secrets Not So Safe?

This week we learned that a group of hackers called The Impact Team broke into Ashley Madison’s data and are threatening to go public with names and personal information — credit card info, sexual habits, likes and desires and such. Now, some of those well-heeled philanderers may be a bit more nervous about their affairs.

Reports Krebs on Security:

The still-unfolding leak could be quite damaging to some 37 million users of the hookup service, whose slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair.” ...

In a long manifesto posted alongside the stolen (Ashley Madison) data, The Impact Team said it decided to publish the information in response to alleged lies ALM told its customers about a service that allows members to completely erase their profile information for a $19 fee.

Apparently, that data doesn’t actually go away, and Ashley Madison made $1.7 million from selling that service.
