Village Thanks Lake Zurich Farmers Market Volunteers

Village President Tom Poynton presents volunteers with proclamation.

The Lake Zurich Farmers Market’s inaugural season was a huge success, drawing hundreds of people every week, due to the dedication of community volunteers.

Village President Tom Tom Poynton recognized the market’s success and those volunteers this week with a proclamation and his personal thanks.

“Volunteerism is essential to keeping our community connected and viable,” Poynton said. “When people are connected to their community, it makes it a better place.”

The success of the village sponsored Farmers Market is due to the hard work of community members including Kevin Koch, Janet Barron, Mary Beth Euker, Susan Miller and Beth Slaughter, he said. Each received a copy of the proclamation.

“A grateful community thanks you,” he said.

Lake Zurich Farmers Market, sponsored by the village, will become an annual event, he said.

Poynton and the board have made it a priority to get more residents involved with committees and special events.

If anyone feels the volunteer spirit, there will be opportunities to volunteer for special events in coming months, Poynton said. A few ideas under consideration are an art show and a craft beer fest.
