Boy, 5, Bitten By Coyote Hospitalized In Chicago

The attack came after numerous coyote sightings in Chicago this past week — and the rescue of a coyote that fell into Lake Michigan.

CHICAGO, IL — A young boy was hospitalized Wednesday after being bitten several times by a coyote in Lincoln Park, according to multiple news reports.

The boy was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital with lacerations to the right side of his head, according to WGN.

The 5-year-old was attacked around 4 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Cannon Drive, NBC Chicago reported.

Hours later, a 32-year-old man reported he was bitten on the buttocks by a coyote while walking on a sidewalk in the Streeterville neighborhood. The man was treated for a scratch at an area hospital.

The attacks came one day after multiple reports of coyote sightings on Chicago's North Side. Chicago Animal Care and Control said it had received about 10 calls about coyotes in the past week, according to NBC.

On Tuesday, a coyote was rescued after it fell into Lake Michigan near Monroe Harbor.
