Derrick Rose Surprised a Bunch of Kids With $500 Gift Cards

The Chicago Bulls star showed up unexpectedly at the Adidas store to help kids involved with the After School Matters program.

In between Monday’s win over the San Antonio Spurs and Wednesday’s home tilt with the Denver Nuggets, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose surprised 25 students of the city’s After School Matters program with $500 gift cards Tuesday at the Adidas store on the Magnificent Mile.

Fox-Chicago reported that Rose said the event was all about giving back, and that he would not mind even if the youngsters used a portion of the cards on LeBron James jerseys.

“I’m not a hater,” said Rose, who is averaging 13.4 points and 3.4 rebounds a game in 13 appearances on the court this season. “I said they can if they want to (buy the LeBron gear). I’m just happy to give back.”
