Gamekeepers Bar Closes After 35 Years In Lincoln Park
After more than three decades at the Lincoln, Armitage, Sedgwick intersection, the bar has closed its doors.
CHICAGO — Lincoln Park mainstay Gamekeepers Tavern & Grill has closed after 35 years in the neighborhood. The bar, at 345 W. Armitage, poured its last drinks early Sunday morning.
The bar opened in 1986, but over the past few years, its owners said that rising taxes and rental rates have become too high in Lincoln Park.
"Gamekeepers has been in our family for 20 years, and it’s been a good run...but like all good things, they must come to an end," the bar's owners wrote in a Facebook post. "Thank you for an amazing, amazing run Lincoln Park!!!!"

Gamekeepers was a popular spot for many local rec leagues and late-night party-seekers.
The closure, first reported by Eater Chicago, comes after Stanley's Kitchen & Tap shuttered last year in the same area after 25 years. Stanley's owner also blamed rising rental rates for the closure.
