Gay Couple Kicked Out of Chicago Cab File Complaint

The same-sex couple say they were kicked out of a Chicago cab for kissing in the backseat.

A same-sex couple filed a human rights complaint against Sun Taxi cab company after a driver told them to leave the cab after they kissed in the backseat, according to an article by the Chicago Tribune. Matthew McCrea, 30, of Chicago and Steven White, 29, of West Hollywood, California, told the Tribune that they exchanged a "brief" kiss in the back of the cab on a rainy night in May, and the driver then pulled over on a busy road and told them to get out. The driver of the cab was fined by the city and fired by the company.

The complaint was filed with the Illinois Department of Human Rights on Monday. "We're doing this because what happened to us isn't right, and we want to make sure other people, if they find themselves in this situation, they know it's not OK," McCrea told the Tribune

This incident comes on the heels of last week's rally in Springfield for same-sex marriage in Illinois.
