Sponsor the Sheffield Garden District with a Planter Adoption

Sheffield Neighborhood Music Festival and Garden Walk beautification program appeals for help from Lincoln Park residents and businesses.

You've seen them all around the neighborhood. Those black wrought iron planters at so many key places on our street corners and parkways such as at Southport and Belden outside the St Josaphat School and Parish. At Webster and Racine near Trebes Park and Sweet Mandy Bs. When you walk out the El station at the Armitage stop and turn east there they are at Armitage and Bissell or head west to the corner of Armitage and Sheffield and there they are bursting with color, energy and beauty. They are everywhere! The Sheffield neighborhood is known as the Garden District of Chicago and for almost 60 years we’ve been guided by Chicago’s motto of “urbs in horto” or “city in a garden”.

As most of you know, the Sheffield Neighborhood Association (SNA) supports many of the traditions which add to the beautification of our Lincoln Park neighborhood. Each year SNA works hard to raise money that goes towards the successful restocking of the 58 planters throughout the neighborhood to both plant and maintain them for the season (see photo of planter). We would like to continue this tradition and our goal is to have all 58 planters filled with beautiful summer annuals from Memorial Day through mid-October and then replanted with winter greens until the end of the year.

So far in 2018, 26 of the 58 planters have been adopted by residents and businesses in 2018! Please help fill the need to support the installation and maintenance of these planters for the coming 2018 season by making a donation today.

We are asking for a contribution of $425 per planter which will enable 1 planter to be planted and maintained during 2018 before MAY 18th. This would cover the cost of an entire planter however any contribution amount you can make will be directed towards this cause. Your contribution is fully tax deductible as the Sheffield Neighborhood Association is a 501(c)-3 not for profit organization.

Sponsors who are interested in a new planter for $3,600 will have the donor’s name affixed. This will require a five-year prepayment toward the annual planting to be paid in advance. This total amount includes the first year’s planting. (Please note: This option will only be available if we receive a minimum order of five planters by May 18.)
