Kizuki Ramen Supports Families and Healthcare Workers

Restauranteur Kevin Yu of Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya Restaurants in Chicago (Lincoln Park, Wicker Park) began supporting the Chicago families during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering free, weekday lunches (pick up only) for kids 18 and under.

This week, Yu announced a new community project to help feed Chicagoland healthcare workers at various hospital systems. For $10, a Bento lunch (vegetarian, pork chashu bento, and chicken karaage bento) can be purchased at www.kizuki.com/Chicago which will then be donated at the end of each week to healthcare workers.

Having kicked off the healthcare lunch campaign on Wednesday, April 1st, within 24 hours, Yu had 125 Bento lunches that were purchased. The first delivery will take place on Saturday, April 4th to the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System.

Yu was inspired to take action after speaking with a customer who shared her concerns about job security, balancing work & childcare and her fears that her child may become ill with the COVID-19 virus.

“I want to shine some light and hope into Chicago,” explains Yu, “and if we can remove a little burden off parents by ensuring that no kid will skip lunch due to schools being closed. Together, we can prevent one more kid going hungry.”

With locations in both Seattle and Chicago, Yu lunch program has served over 700 kids.
