Lincoln Common Affordable Apartments Accepting Applications
The apartments are the first new affordable housing built in Ward 43 in 35 years, Ald. Michele Smith said.

CHICAGO — Lincoln Common will begin accepting applications this weekend for its affordable apartments. Over the next few months, 54 apartments aimed at working people will become available, Ald. Michele Smith said in a letter to residents. Sign ups will begin on Saturday, April 13, at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. at 9 a.m.
The first 300 attendees to submit a complete pre-application will be placed on the waiting list, Smith said. The applicants will not be applying for, touring or obtaining approval to rent an apartment at event, and no fees are due or will be accepted. The head of household must attend, the alderman said.
Applicants will receive an email two weeks after the event notifying them of their position on the waiting list, and will be notified when it's their turn to complete the full rental application forms. Making the waiting list in no way guarantees qualification for affordable housing or approval to rent an apartment, Lincoln Common said.
