Lincoln Park High School On Lockdown After Bomb Threat

The school was briefly placed on lockdown after a man called the school and said that a bomb was in the building, authorities said.

CHICAGO — Lincoln Park High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after an anonymous man called and said a bomb was in the school, authorities said. The call was received by a school staff member at 11:25 a.m.

The caller said that the bomb was on the first floor of the building and it would explode in three hours, police said. Students were briefly placed on lockdown while officers conducted a search of both the school's buildings, district officials said.

In a letter to parents, the school's principal Michael Boraz said the Chicago Police Department is investigating the source of the threat. Boraz said that police determined it was safer to keep the students in the school than evacuate them.
