Lincoln Park Luxury Home Sells For $11.9 Million

After less than three months on the market, the house on Burling Street sold Monday.

CHICAGO — A mansion that sits on 3.75 standard lots in Lincoln Park sold Monday after less than three months on the market. The 3,000 square-foot mansion at 1950 N Burling Street was listed in early June. Built in 2013, the house has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

The home has a large terrace and lawn, a formal garden, a grilling area and a patio, all of which are surrounded by trees for 'ultimate privacy,' listing agents said.

The home sold for $11.9 million, marking the fifth-highest price paid for a Chicago-area home in 2018, according to a report by Crain's. Only two Chicago-area homes sold for more than $11.9 million in 2017, according to the report.

Crain's called this year's high-end market in Chicagoland "red hot," however according to a RE/MAX second quarter luxury report, detached luxury sales (of $1 million and up) in Lincoln Park were down by 14 percent over the same quarter last year. Around 457 homes were sold for more than $1 million in Chicago in the second quarter, according to the report.

The luxury Burling Street home was listed for $12.9 million in early June. The house includes formal rooms on either side of the reception foyer, a chef's kitchen, a casual dining room, a wine room and a family-size great room, all of which lead to nine-foot palladium-style doors that open onto a terrace.
