Lincoln Park Residents Reject Belden Avenue Development
Ald. Brian Hopkins said he received many objections to a proposed zone change in Lincoln Park.

CHICAGO, IL — Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) said he won't allow a zoning change for a property at 1309 West Belden Avenue in Lincoln Park. The applicant was hoping to rezone the property to accommodate new construction for 13 townhomes, with 13 attached two-car garages. The alderman said he made his decision after many residents voiced concerns.
Hopkins and the Sheffield Neighborhood Association held a public meeting Nov. 20 to discuss the proposed zone change.
"Neighbors voiced objections and concerns pertinent to density, configuration, accessibility, and appropriate use of the site," Hopkins stated in a newsletter.
