Man Run Over By His Own Car During Carjacking In Old Town

The man was trying to help his wife and child into their car, when a carjacker tried to steal it, police said.

CHICAGO — A carjacking victim was run over by his own vehicle in the Old Town neighborhood Thursday night, police said. The 35-year-old man was parked near Eugenie and Wells around 10 p.m., when he got out of his Subaru to help his child and wife into the car.

He was able to get his child inside, but a suspect got inside the car and tried to drive away with it, police said.

The man tried to pull the carjacker out of the car, but the victim slipped and he was run over by the vehicle, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where his condition was stabilized. His wife and child were not injured.

The Subaru was found later, but the carjacker has not been caught, police said.
