New Neighborhood Gym Boasts Ultra-Cheap Membership
The first Fitness 19 on the North Side is landing nearby and representatives say memberships are less than $10 a month.
Lincoln Park residents had better be ready to sweat, because the national gym chain Fitness 19 is opening its second location in Chicago, sporting ultra-cheap membership fees.
The nearby fitness center will fill the nearly 11,000-square-foot vacancy at 2834 N. Broadway St., just north of Diversey Parkway and under the new Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Fitness 19 signed a 10-year lease in November and plans to open sometime in June, Baum Realty Group reports.

While representatives with Fitness 19 did not return Patch’s multiple calls and emails for more details on the new gym, the company’s other 8 locations in Illinois advertise memberships starting at $9. The low prices are apparently a part of the health club’s mantra.
“Fitness 19 was founded in 2003 by fitness industry veterans who believed that the traditional health club model wasn’t meeting the needs of most people,” the company’s website reads. “They started Fitness 19 to give customers more of what they really want out of a fitness membership. The result is a simple fitness club concept— an extremely affordable, family-friendly facility that offers state-of-the-art cardio, strength, and free weight equipment.”

This will be Fitness 19’s first North Side location and second in Chicago, with another at 2640 N. Narragansett Ave. in Belmont Cragin.
In total, the company has gyms in 24 states across the United States. Locations offer cardio, strength and free-weight equipment, kids rooms, no long-term contracts and personal trainers.
