PAWS Chicago Event To Waive Adoption Fees For Adult Dogs

CHICAGO — The PAWS Chicago Lincoln Park Adoption Center will be waiving adoption fees for adult dogs this Saturday, March 23. The Chance to Bloom Adoption Event aims to showcase adult and senior dogs, who are often overlooked.

"Our goal is to find as many homes as possible for these wonderful adults who have been passed over, in turn making space for us to save more animals who need our help," PAWS Chicago said in a statement.

While PAWS is waiving adoption fees for adult dogs during the event, the organization's usual adoption process and screening still apply to help make the best match for each dog and family, staff said.

When: Saturday, March 23, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: PAWS Chicago Lincoln Park Adoption Center, 1997 N Clybourn Ave.

HILDA

Hilda is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. Looking for a dog who fits into your active lifestyle? Hilda would love to meet you! This beautiful pup with eccentric ears loves to take walks and engage in all forms of physical activity. In this way, she would make a perfect running or walking buddy.

RANI

Rani is a playful 2-year-old Terrier mix who is who loves exploring, taking long walks, playing fetch, and chewing on sticks. Rani would do best in a house where her family members are over the age of 10 and there are no cats. Rani suffers from a medical condition where she has frequent urinary accidents. She has done well with training to wear a diaper but she would benefit from experienced adopters who will exhibit patience and understanding when she has those accidents. Rani is an extremely lovable dog who is ready to find her new family.

MAC

This wiggly, loving two-year-old Golden Retriever adores taking extended walks and playing with his human friends. He also has lap-dog aspirations and will love to plop down on your lap despite his size. Mac is not a fan of other animals. He will require active and experienced dog owners aged 10+ due to his size and strength. He would like to have a home where he can spend the day — all day! —with his humans and playing with Kong toys.

TROY

Troy is a one-year-old Border Collie mix who looks forward to any activity you send his way. He LOVES people and looks forward to going on adventures like running (or anything else where burning energy is involved) with his future family. As much as he loves people, Troy doesn’t care to share that love with other animals and should be the only animal in your household. He would be thrilled to continue training (including crate training), since he thinks mental workouts are just as important as physical ones.

CAILEAN

Cailean is an energetic pup with lots of love to give. This playful two-year-old Shepherd/Box mix loves playing with his people and especially enjoys games that challenge him. Cailean would benefit from active, experienced owners aged 15+. He is not fond of other dogs, so would do best as an only pet.

FLOWER

Why stop to smell the roses when you can stop and meet Flower? This senior 13-year-old sweetie wants nothing more than to give all her attention to you. Flower is the perfect candidate for a lap dog, but don’t let that fool you into thinking she’s a couch potato. This little girl has enough energy to still want to play with you.
