Price Drops For Illinois' Most Expensive Home

The priciest home listing in the state is now *only* $45 million.

CHICAGO — The owners of Illinois' most expensive home have knocked $5 million off its asking price. Their 25,000-square-foot mansion, which sits on a whopping eight city lots in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, is now listed for $45 million.

Built in 2010, the house features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and four half bathrooms.

The home was built by Richard and Michaela Parrillo, who spent $65 million on the property, a sum that included the purchase of its land and construction costs, according to Crain's.

Richard Parrillo told Crain's that the project "got away" from him, but that it was "a labor of love" for his wife.

According to listing agents, "every step has been taken to provide complete privacy and tranquility" on the property. The mansion sits on manicured grounds with multiple fountains, a reflecting pool and a forged antique garden pavilion. Its motor court includes imported French gravel.
