Walter Jacobson's Former Lincoln Park Home Hits Market For $2.65M
The famous Chicago broadcaster bought this elegant three-story mansion in the 1980s.
CHICAGO, IL — A Romanesque Revival home that once belonged to TV and radio news personality Walter Jacobson has hit the market. Located in the Sheffield Historic District in Lincoln Park, the 6000-square-foot house has five bedrooms and bathrooms. Built in 1895, the house has been meticulously preserved throughout its various updates, according to listing agents.
The elegant home features tall, lead-glass windows, third-floor skylights and hand-carved woodwork throughout. It was originally built for Illinois Nail Co. founder James P. Sherlock, who lived there until he died in 1939.
Jacobson purchased the home in the mid-1980s with his former wife Diane Dybsky, who claimed the house after their divorce, and sold it in the mid-'90s for about $1.148 million, according to the Chicago Tribune.
