Wiener's Circle Property Listed For Sale

The iconic Lincoln Park hot dog stand has hit the market, and fans are worrying what will happen to the spot.

CHICAGO, IL — A decades-old, popular hot dog spot on Chicago's North Side has hit the market. Wiener's Circle in Lincoln Park has been listed along with a mixed-use building next door for $7.5 million. The combined property could attract a developer who wants to scrap the hot dog stand and replace it with condos or a larger project.

The joint at 2622 N. Clark Street is known for its witty and sarcastic banter between staff and customers. The Wiener's Circle has been around for 36 years, and has been featured on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien."

Evelyn Morris, The Wiener's Circle's longtime manager, told NBC Chicago that the iconic restaurant "isn't going anywhere." The spot rents its property under a month-to-month lease, however, and the property's listing says it's a "potential development opportunity," so the hot dog stand could theoretically be in jeopardy if a new owner takes over.

In recent years, the hot dog joint has been known for its big sign, which has mocked President Donald Trump and his policies.

"Tiny hands. Tiny wiener. Tiny heart. Free the kids," the sign read earlier this month, referencing the Trump administration's policy of separating immigrant children from their parents when the families enter the country.

When then-presidential candidate Trump was in Chicago for a rally at UIC, the hot dog joint offered 3-inch mini dogs under the name "Trump foot-long." And for April Fool's day, when claims that Russia had meddled in the U.S. election were all over the news, Wiener's Circle announced in a promotion that Russia had taken over the U.S.
