Wow! House: Ex-Cubs Pitcher Kerry Wood Drops Price On His Lincoln Park Home

CHICAGO, IL — Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood only just put his five-bedroom Lincoln Park home on the market earlier this month, but he has already dropped the price on it by $200,000.

The residence is at 1928 N. Fremont St., and the asking price is $3.05 million. It was originally listed at $3.25 million on Feb. 7. That price was reduced on Feb. 21.

Built in 2005, the house blends elegant touches without losing any of its homey charms. Highlights of the home include a butler's pantry, a chef's kitchen, a great room with French doors and a back patio with a garage roof deck.

Wood is selling his Lincoln Park residence now that he and his wife recently built a $4.2 million, six-bedroom mansion in Winnetka, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Still a favorite among Cubs fans — he was part of the team's World Series parade in November — Wood earned a reputation his rookie year as a strikeout artist with an overpowering fastball. He played 14 seasons in the majors, including brief stints with the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, but injuries stopped him from matching his early career dominance, and he retired two months into the 2012 season.
