Wrigley Mansion Cuts Price; Is $5.5M More Affordable?

The 13,705-square-foot home originally was listed at $7.15 million when it went on the market in February, according to realtor.com. Since then, the price has dropped to $6.99 million in March, $6.65 million in June and $5.98 million in early August. It's new asking price is $5.5 million.

Built in 1896, the Italian Renaissance-style home was commissioned and originally owned by Schoenhofen Brewing Company owner Joseph Theurer. Chewing gum mogul William Wrigley Jr. bought the property in 1911, but the family left the house empty during the Great Depression and in the years following that period. The Wrigley Mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, and the city considered making it the mayor's official residence in 1984.
