Albany Park Community Center Offers Free Counseling Services

Albany Park Community Center Announces Free Expanded Counseling Services Available for 10 to 24-Year-Olds

Albany Park Community Center (APCC) program just announces its expanded community based counseling program providing free counseling, in English or Spanish, to individuals 10 to 24 years old. APCC’s counseling team is now accepting new clients. Services are available for both day and evening hours, including Saturday hours, at 5101 N. Kimball Ave.

“Today more than ever we are seeing young people in need of guidance and counseling. Many are dealing with anger, trauma, poor social skills, low self-esteem and lack of family support,” said Kathy Maher, LCSW, Director of Counseling, APCC. “Our goal is to help youth gain needed developmental assets and coping skills, to become happy, healthy, socially adjusted, educated, and contributing members of society,” she added.

Youth receiving counseling services are expected to see a reduction in emotional symptoms, low self-esteem, behavioral problems, aggression, and impulsivity. They will also see improvement in grades, behavior, build resilience, social-emotional skills, and gain peer and parent support.
