SSA #21 Lincoln Square Commissioner Meeting

Commissioners from Lincoln Square's SSA #21 will meet at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce office.

 Special Service Areas, known as Business Improvement Districts or BIDs in other cities, are local tax districts that fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous areas, according to the LSRCC Web site.

The enhanced services and programs are in addition to those currently provided through the City.

The city contracts with local non-profits ("Service Providers") to manage SSAs.

SSA Commissioners oversee and recommend the annual services, budget and Service Provider Agency to the city, according to the Web site.

There are currently 44 active SSAs in Chicago.
