Armed Man Arrested at Chicago Blackhawks Rally
Police said a man who was carrying weapons was arrested Friday near City Hall.

A man carrying two loaded guns—one in a backpack, one in his pocket—was arrested Friday morning just before the Chicago Blackhawks Parade traveled east on Washington Street.
Chicago Police did not name the man in an e-mailed statement to Patch but reporters were working to gain additional details around 3:30 p.m. The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Officers stopped the suspect in front of City Hall, NBC reported.
"The man initially tried to walk away when a police officer asked to look in his backpack," that story says. "The officer refused to let him leave and began the search."

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said authorities took note of the man because he was "acting suspiciously."

"He admitted to having a handgun in his pocket and a search revealed a second handgun in his backpack," he said, in an e-mailed statement. "As we made clear prior to today's events, police would be doing searches of large bags and backpacks and this arrest is a clear example of the effectiveness of those efforts."
