Art School Opens In Lincoln Square

The school has taken over this formerly vacant building at Lincoln and Eastwood Avenues.

CHICAGO — A new art school for people of all ages has opened in Lincoln Square. The grand opening for One River Lincoln Square will be held Dec. 1 and 2, and the school is currently accepting enrollments for classes, which began earlier this week.

The school, which has two hands-on art-making studios and a state-of-the-art digital studio, accepts people of all experience levels.

The Lincoln Square school at 4625 N. Lincoln Ave will present exhibitions of emerging and established artists who make work that’s "current, relevant and inspiring to our students," the school said.

Established in 2012 in Englewood, New Jersey, One River School of Art + Design aims to provide communities with creative, project-based learning experiences. The curriculum was created by One River’s team of art educators who have developed an expanding program of teaching modules based on art practices of contemporary artists working today.

"We are thrilled to be part of the Lincoln Square community and to provide kids with the best local place where they can express their creativity, stretch their pure potential and have fun," One River School founder Matt Ross said in a statement.

Ross said the school is also a great place for adults who are "looking for new opportunities for personal growth."

“We serve those who seek the return to an activity they loved as a kid, as well as those who want to realize their dream of learning to draw, paint or design using the newest digital techniques.”
