Burglars Posing As Plumbers, Construction Workers On NW Side

Burglars have been targeting elderly people, police warned.

CHICAGO — Investigators are searching for suspects wanted for posing as plumbers and construction workers, police said in a community alert. At least three homes were targeted between May 11 and May 17 on Chicago's Northwest side, police said.

In each case, the offenders used a "ruse" of conducting plumbing work or construction in the area to distract elderly homeowners, police said. The burglars then went inside the home and stole jewelry and cash.

  • in the 3700 block of North Neva Ave between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 11
  • in the 3400 block of North Neenah Ave at 2 p.m. on May 15
  • in the 3500 block of North Pontiac Ave on May 17 at 4:30 p.m.
