Catalytic Converter Thefts Reported In Uptown, Edgewater

Police issued a community alert for North Side residents.

CHICAGO — Catalytic converters were stolen from at least six vehicles in Uptown and Edgewater between April 12 and April 24, police said in a community alert issued Wednesday.

When a catalytic converter is removed, a vehicle will make a roaring sound that gets louder as you push the gas pedal.

Police said the converters were cut and removed from the vehicles in the following locations:

• 5600 block of N. Kenmore Ave. between April 12 and April 14, between 8 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.;
• 5800 block of N. Kenmore Ave. between April 12 April 14, between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.;
• 900 block of W Carmen Ave. between April 12 to April 16, between 8 a.m. and 6 a.m.;
• 5100 block of N Marine Dr. between April 13 and April 20, between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.;
• 5000 block of N Marine Dr. on April 14 at 12 p.m.;
• 1300 block of W Thorndale Ave. between April 23 and April 24 ,between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.
