Chicago Craft Beer Week starts May 16; see what local bars and breweries are pouring up in Lincoln Square, Northcenter and Roscoe Village.

Beer lovers can get their hops up for a 10-day craft beer celebration that starts Thursday.
Chicago Craft Beer Week, now in its fourth year, includes more than 250 venues offering special tastings and events from May 16-26.
This year’s beer week is focusing on the city’s smaller communities with the theme, “Chicago: A City of Neighborhoods.”

Barrel Aged Beer
Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17 at Village Tap, 2055 W. Roscoe
The Roscoe Village bar will kick off CCBW with a two-part series of limited edition barrel-aged beers from Firestone Walker and Revolution Brewery.
Honky Tonk Night Beer Release
Thursday, May 16 from 9 to 11 p.m. at Hungry Brain, 2319 W. Belmont
The Honky Tonk Parade will perform at the bar to kick off CCBW with Oso’s Memory Lane Pilsner on tap.
Two Brothers 16th Anniversary Ale Tapping
Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m. at Four Moon Tavern, 1847 W. Roscoe St.
Celebrate 16 years of Two Brothers by drinking their special Belgian strong ale, 16 percent ABV golden beauty.
Taps 4 Tails
Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m.

Paradisi and Goose Island 25th Anniversary Tapping
Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at The Dog’s Bollox, 3120 N. Lincoln Ave.
Love Goose Island’s Sofie? The variant, Sofie Paradisi, is aged in wine barrels with a brighter citrus flavor and will be on tap at the bar.
Double Firkin Tapping
Friday, May 17 at 12 p.m. at Half Acre Beer Company, 4255 N. Lincoln Ave.
Half Acre is tapping not one, but two firkins for CCBW, one at 12 and the other at 4 p.m.
New Belgium Craft Beer Tasting
Saturday, May 18 at 12 p.m. at Brownstone Tavern, 3937 N. Lincoln Ave.

Local Cast Day and VIP Hour
Saturday, May 18 starting at 11 a.m.
For the last three years, Fountainhead has lined up casks from local breweries on the bar and poured from there. The VIP hour goes from 11 to 12 p.m. and earns partygoers a first taste of Revolution, Metropolitan, Half Acre, Brickstone, Greenbush and Brewery Vivant.

New Belgium Meet the Brewer

Jamie Mastin was one of the first brewers at New Belgium. Sample feature drafts and chat about beer with an expert.
Craft Beer Week at Waterhouse
Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 26 starting at 5 p.m.
Waterhouse will be offering $4 Green Line Draft throughout beer week. Beer tasting tickets are $25 a person and reservations can be made at 773-871-1200. On Friday, May 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., ambassadors from Goose Island brewery will be answering questions.
European and Asian Craft Brewers Trolley Tour
Wednesday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
For $20, a trolley will take beer enthusiasts through Lincoln Square, Andersonville and Uptown to tour craft beer bars.
Beer Dinner with Begyle Brewing
Wednesday May 22 at 7 p.m. at The Fountainhead, 1970 W. Montrose Ave.
