This book discussion group will go over The Zookeeper’s Wife: a War Story by Diane Ackerman.
The book features Jan and Antonina Zabinski, head Polish zookeepers of the Warsaw Zoo. Horrified by Nazi atrocities, they used their resourcefulness and courageously turned this devastated zoo into a refuge which helped to save the lives of several hundred Jews and members of the Polish Resistance, according to the CPL Web site.
