Fountainhead’s Beer and Whiskey-Centered Menu Debuts
See what's for dinner at Fountainhead with their new chef and 'Check, Please!' host hopeful Cleetus Friedman.
Fountainhead’s new chef has been busy.
Less than a month after taking over the kitchen at the craft beer and whiskey restaurant at 1970 W. Montrose Ave., Cleetus Friedman is launching a new menu. Locals will be able to taste the redesigned food starting Friday.
Some of the dishes include hints of City Provisions, the sustainable deli Friedman closed in January.

The chef started his job at Fountainhead March 20 and was immediately tasked with creating a new menu not just for the restaurant, but the rooftop patio as well.
“I want to create a menu that highlights the mad selection of beer here,” he told Patch in March.

Like City Provisions, Friedman brings local and sustainable food to residents. But what’s new at Fountainhead is the portion size—many dishes on the menu come in multiple sizes for sharing and pairing.
Standouts include the belly fire chicken wings, pan-roasted salmon and smoked hummus, according a release from the restaurant. The chicken wings might have a familiar flavor, with sauce from Bill Kim of the acclaimed Asian barbecue joint, BellyQ.
The food highlights the restaurant’s beverage menu and Friedman, known for his partnerships with local brewers, will continue that trend. A new beer will debut on May 22 that’s a collaboration between the chef and Begyle Brewing, also in Ravenswood.
