Gold Stein Competition Offers 16 Beers, Brewed by Neighbors

Between a brew competition, football game and walkathon, there's plenty to do in Lincoln Square this weekend.

From beer tasting to touchdowns, here's what's going on in Lincoln Square this weekend.

Movie Night at McPherson Elementary School

Grab the family and some popcorn and head to McPherson Friday night to watch "Charlotte's Web."

The classic literary tale will be showing at the school starting at 6 p.m. A suggested donation of $1 will go to fund grade-level field trips.

Amundsen High School Football Game

Watch the Viking football team in their first home game at Jorndt Stadium in Winnemac Park Saturday. Kick-off begins at 12:45 against Schurz. 

Gold Stein Beer Competition

Beeries, this is the event for you. For $40, hops lovers can sample 16 different beers from neighborhood home brewers. Categories are brown ale, IPA, Hefeweizen and Stout with the winners taking home a gold stein.

Along with the brews, Cheff Ross Outten from Dolce Casa Cafe will be serving appetizers to complement each tasting. 

Brew Camp will also be on hand for a beer-making demonstration. 

The competition and afterparty runs from 4 to 9 p.m. at Dolce Casa, 4947 N. Damen Ave. 

Tickets can be purchased at dolcecasachicago.com and proceeds will be spent to improve Winnemac Park. 

Chase Park 5K Walkathon

Walk off all that beer from Saturday with a 5K walkathon in Chase Park Sunday. 

The walkathon starts at 9 a.m. at 4701 N. Ashland Ave and is $7 per person.
