Landmark Uptown Country Bar Carol's Pub To Reopen
Yee-haw! The North Side country bar Carol's Pub shut down in 2016 after 43 years, but word has it the bar will reopen.

CHICAGO, IL — The country bar Carol's Pub in Uptown will reopen over the next few months, according to the 46th Ward Office. The North Side institution at Clark Street and Leland Avenue opened in 1973, but shut down in 2016 after running into financial trouble. For decades, Carol's Pub was known for its live country music and karaoke.
Many North Side residents voiced their disappointment over social media when the local landmark shut down in 2016. Some even commented that the bar was the reason they moved to the neighborhood.
According to a report by the 46th Ward Office, the bar will undergo a few changes before it reopens: ramped-up security, a sign warning patrons to be respectful of neighbors and some new operational procedures.

The office said the bar would open later than it did before—4 p.m., to "avoid the all-day, old school mentality that was previously there." The office said exceptions would be made for some Cubs games, neighborhood celebrations and parades.
The 46th Ward announced a community meeting to discuss the bar's opening at 6:30 p.m. on Mar. 1 at Truman College.
