Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Cops In West Rogers Park

One officer was hit in his bullet-proof vest, police said.

CHICAGO — A West Rogers Park man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot at three officers Saturday, Chicago police said. The officers were responding to a call at the man's home at about 6:45 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

When the officers went inside the man's home, he fired at them, police said. One officer was hit in his bullet-proof vest but it wasn't penetrated.

Swaleh Mohammed, 32, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and three felony counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Mohammed was taken to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation, police said.
