Man Killed In NW Side House Fire
A man died in a fire that broke out in a North Mayfair home, officials said.
CHICAGO — A 39-year-old man and a dog died in a house fire Tuesday in the North Mayfair neighborhood, authorities said. The fire broke out in the 4800 block of North Keystone at about 12:30 a.m.
The man was found in the home's basement, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A family of six people were able to escape the fire, but the family's dog was killed.

The fire rekindled later Tuesday morning, and firefighters were called back to the home.
The fire may have started in the basement and appears to be accidental, officials said. The Chicago Fire Department was investigating.
