Mother's Day Brunches, Events, Specials On Chicago's North Side

CHICAGO, IL — Are you looking to take mom out and treat her to brunch, dinner, coffee or another event this Sunday? You have plenty of options across Chicago's North Side, and you don't have to break the bank! Many restaurants, bars and coffee shops are offering freebies and discounts for moms.

Many Mother's Day brunch specials, events, dinner discounts and tea time specials are being offered in neighborhoods on Chicago's North Side this weekend.

Here are some of the highlights:

Mother's Day Brunch at Lincoln Park Zoo:

• Tickets for adults are $45; $20 for children

Treat your mother to something especially wild the zoo's historic Cafe Brauer. The event will feature live music, a large breakfast brunch buffet and a variety of coffee refreshing drinks. Mothers will receive one complimentary mimosa in celebration of the day. Tickets sell out quickly, so advanced booking is recommended.

Mother's Day Brunch at Commonwealth Tavern:

• $3 to $14 brunch items

Commonwealth Tavern in Roscoe Village will host a family-friendly Mother's Day brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can enjoy enjoy a $3 Build-Your-Own Mimosa Bar and $6 Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar. Brunch highlights include Brunch Schnitzel (herb aioli, smoked potatoes, pickled red onion, fried egg; $14), Belgian Waffle (with choice of fresh strawberries or bananas topped with whipped cream; $9) and more. The kid's menu ranges from $5 to $6 with options like bacon and eggs, grilled cheese, mini cheese burgers and chicken fingers. Reservations are highly recommended.

Band of Bohemia in Ravenswood:

The Michelin-starred brewhouse is offering a Mother's Day brunch menu that includes an osetra reserve caviar crepe cake, tempura-fried chicken and biscuits with sriracha aioli and a bohemian creme donut.

Geja's Cafe in Lincoln Park:

The romantic fondue restaurant will treat mothers to a complimentary five-minute neck and shoulder massage in a secluded section of the restaurant, courtesy of Massage House. Geja's is also offering mothers a complimentary glass of bubbly.

Mother's Day "Afternoon Tea Time" at Hakka Bakka:

Chicagoans can treat Mom to an "Afternoon Tea Time" with an Indian twist at Hakka Bakka this Mother's Day weekend featuring an authentic Chaats menu paired with complimentary Masala Chai Tea. Featured chaats include Pani Puri, Jhaai Muri, Bhei Puri, Sev Puri and Samosa (menu details available upon request). New to the chaat menu is the Vada Pav. The dish consists of a deep-fried potato dumpling inside a bread bun (pav). It is generally accompanied with one or more chutneys and a green chilli pepper.

The drink is inspired by the Southern Italian treat made of Marzipan featuring Gusto Crema espresso, almond-infused Pernigotti chocolate sauce and steamed milk.

Mother's Day Card Making at Remedy:

• Wednesday, May 9

To prep for Mother's Day, Remedy in Bucktown will host a free Mother's Day Card Making party as a part of their spring "Weird Wednesdays" lineup. Starting at 10 p.m., Remedy will provide the materials for guests to create a thoughtful, homemade card just in time for Mother's Day. While crafting, attendees can choose from an eclectic craft cocktail list and a local brewery-driven beer list. Guests who arrive early will enjoy a half-off everything happy hour (excluding shots) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
