Operation Help A Hero Launches On North Side

Celebrate this Memorial Day by helping homeless veterans in Chicago.

CHICAGO, IL — Donations of household items are being accepted at the 40th Ward Service Office for Operation Help a Hero. The organization helps homeless veterans move into permanent homes in Chicago. The group said many veterans often don't have basic items such as shampoo, soap, brushes and cleaning supplies.

Operation Help a Hero is working with Ald. Patrick O'Connor to collect donations at the 40th Ward Service Office — 5850 N. Lincoln Avenue.

New, store-bought items can be dropped off during office hours: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
