Police Provide Update On Ravenswood Shooting
20th District police have "significantly" stepped up their presence at the scene of the shooting, a CPD commander said.

CHICAGO — Police have stepped up patrols in the 5000 block of North Francisco Avenue after a shooting earlier this week. In an email to Ald. Pat O'Connor, CPD 20th District Commander Sean Loughran said police now have private video from the area that's helping their investigation.
A 33-year-old man was shot in the abdomen at about 2:40 p.m. on Monday, police said.
In his email to the alderman, Loughran said there were some issues with a surveillance camera in the area:

"...the Department POD camera located at 5000 North Francisco (on the northeast corner reallocated with your assistance and funding) is functioning now and was functioning at the time of incident. Unfortunately, it is an older generation camera that requires a line of sight download through a cellular link, preventing us from remotely winding back the footage from the incident. We have been and continue to live monitor that camera with our SDSC room personnel. Detectives from Area North requested the upload of that footage immediately after the incident. I am awaiting their results and any updates from the investigation."
The man was a member of the Latin Kings street gang, police said earlier this week, and his shooting appears to have been targeted.

"It is still my belief that all parties involved in this incident predominantly are active in the 17th District west of our location across the river," Loughran said.
No one has been taken into custody.
