Officials alerted parents Monday about the possible case, which hasn't been confirmed, at Helen C. Pierce School of International Studies.

CHICAGO, IL — Officials from Chicago Public Schools alerted parents Monday of a possible case of mumps at a North Side elementary school, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The possible case, which hasn't been confirmed, is at Helen C. Pierce School of International Studies, 1423 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., in the Andersonville neighborhood, the report stated. The mumps diagnosis by the city's Department of Public Health is only preliminary, and CPS says it will work with the department to take whatever precautionary measures it needs to, the report added.
In the past week, health officials around the Chicago area have been investigating reports of the contagious disease.
