Shooting Reported Near Swedish Covenant Hospital

A man suffering from a gunshot wound was taken to the Ravenswood hospital Wednesday, police said.

CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man turned up at a hospital in Ravenswood Wednesday with a gunshot wound to his back. The man told investigators that he was shot just after 5 p.m. on Devon Avenue, police said.

The man was unable to give the location of the shooting, but said it was about 10 to 15 minutes away from Swedish Covenant Hospital at 5140 N. California Ave., police said.

Someone then drove the man to the hospital, and he was later transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition.

Area North detectives were investigating. No one was in custody.
