Benet Academy Advances to Nationals with Envirothon Victory

Association of IL Soil and Water Conversation District event helps encourage environmentally friendly study for students.

LISLE -- Benet Academy in Lisle will head to a national competition after winning the Illinois Envirothon Competition.

The event hosted by the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts is held annually at the 4H Memorial Camp in Monticello. Teams compete first locally in regional Soil and Water Conservation Districts and then advance to state, where they are tested on their knowledge of five core environmental areas: soils, acquatics, forestry, wildlife and a wildcard topic.

Benet beat out Newman Central Catholic of Sterling and Paris High School in Paris. The National Envirothon Competition is set for North Carolina State University in Raleigh in late July.
