DuPage County Approves $476M Budget For 2020
The budget will help fund new squad cars and increase the sheriff's office's patrol capacity.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Board has approved a $476.2 million budget for 2020. The budget includes a general revenue fund of nearly $184 million and a property tax levy of close to $69 million, which officials say is a "slight adjustment" over last year's numbers.
Residents who own $250,000 homes will see an average tax increase of about $4 over the year, officials said in a news release.
The funds will be used to help replace squad cars for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and to increase the sheriff's patrol footprint.

Additionally, the budget includes a $1 million social services grant from the Human Services Grant Fund to help residents in need. A $100,000 allotment for the The Heroin Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Taskforce will help battle the county's ongoing opioid use epidemic.
The press release also detailed that some of the budget money would be allocated to help the County Clerk's Office conduct the 2020 primary and general elections.
