DuPage County Preps For St. Pat's Day Crackdown
The county will conduct special patrols before and during St. Patrick's Day for seatbelt and impaired driving enforcement.
DUPAGE COUNTY, ILLINOIS — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office is prepping to crack down on impaired drivers and seatbelt violations this St. Patrick's Day. The crackdown, which is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns, aims to help keep roadways safe during one of the deadliest holidays of the year.
In a statement, DuPage County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Justin Kmitch said, "We urge our community residents and visitors to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day responsibly. We’ll be out in force to keep impaired drivers off the roads and help ensure that everyone makes it home safely."
Residents are encouraged to designate a sober driver or to use a rideshare app to get home if they've been drinking. County officials are also encouraging commuters to stay safe by buckling up when they get into a car.
