Giant Statue Exhibit To Open At Morton Arboretum

LISLE, IL — The Morton Arboretum is prepping to open its biggest exhibit in 2020...at least when it comes to height. June 2020 will mark the opening of Human+Nature, which features 5 sculptures that stretch up to 25 feet skyward.

Human+Nature is the brainchild of South African artist Daniel Popper and was created just for Morton Arboretum. The exhibit uses "thought-provoking human forms paired with elements of nature, each piece will bring attention to the deep connections."

Each sculpture will be feature wood, root structures, and other natural elements and many will be interactive. Visitors can walk through sculptures and gaze up at the Popper's intricate handiwork.

In a statement, Morton Arboretum CEO Gerard T. Donnelly, Ph.D. said, "The sculptures are designed to inspire visitors to think about how people and trees are interdependent. People depend on trees for health and well-being, and trees depend on people to be able to thrive and provide their ample benefits."

Human+Nature is set to open June 12, 2020, but Arboretum visitors will be able to see the statues take shape if they stop by in the months leading up to the opening.
