Police said crews were working to clean up the graffiti.

LISLE, IL — Downtown Lisle was the scene of "random graffiti" Monday night as unrest broke out in surrounding areas, according to Lisle Police Chief Ron Wilke. Wilke told Patch the graffiti was found in the Main Street area of downtown Lisle.

Crews were working to remove the graffiti, Wilke said. The village issued a safety notice Monday night stating that police patrols had been increased due to the threat of criminal activity.

Nearby Naperville's downtown area was looted and damaged Monday night by rioters. Naperville police said explosive devices and bricks were thrown at police and at least one officer was injured. Police in Naperville added that someone involved in the looting was also stabbed by another looter.
