Lisle 2021 Election: Mayor, Village Clerk, Board Races
Lisle voters will head to the polls April 6 to choose members for village council and local school boards.
LISLE, IL — Lisle voters will head to the polls Tuesday, April 6, to cast their votes for mayor and village clerk. Voters will also choose new members for the Lisle Village Board of Trustees and Lisle Community Unit District 202 Board of Education.
Here's some information about the races and candidates, in addition to some facts about Election Night in DuPage County.
Mayor of Lisle
As he runs for a second term, incumbent Mayor Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak faces challenges from current Lisle Village Trustees Sara Sadat and Stephen A. Winz in the 2021 consolidated election.

Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak

Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak started his inaugural term as mayor of Lisle in 2017. In addition to being involved in local politics, Pecak works as a project manager and is involved in the Cub Scouts and "multiple sports programs," according to his profile on the Prosperity for Lisle website. He received Lisle's Community Spirit Award in 2011.
On his campaign's Facebook page, Pecak vows "to continue the progress made through lower taxes, increased transparency and accountability, a growing local economy and a sharp eye on fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets," if re-elected in 2021.

Sara Sadat
Village Trustee Sara Sadat started her term on the village board in 2019. She also serves as a board member for the Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation. When she's not involved in local politics, Sadat works as a project manager, a career she's held for more than 15 years.
On her campaign website, Sadat promises government transparency, accountability and inclusivity. She states, "I will first and foremost listen to the needs of the residents. I will be a visible presence and work with local community leaders and stakeholders. This is the only way to make sure that our investment priorities respect and reflect the needs of our community."

Stephen A. Winz
Village Trustee Stephen A. Winz started his term on the Lisle village board in 2019. In addition to being involved in local politics, Winz works as a crane operator, a career he's held for more than 25 years.
In his Patch Candidate Profile, Winz states, "The Village of Lisle should be looking for sustainable ways to not just freeze our taxes but to lower them and keep them low. I believe the best way to do this is through actively partnering with quality developers seeking to take advantage of our many amenities like Metra and our location at the corner of 88 and 355."

Lisle Village Clerk
Incumbent Village Clerk Lorna Turner faces off against challenger Kristy Grau in the 2021 consolidated election. Below, you'll find information about each candidate, listed alphabetically by last name.
Kristy Grau
Kristy Grau serves on the village of Lisle's Flood Information Committee, per her campaign's Facebook page.
Grau writes, "We need to bring some civility back. Residents should be encouraged to participate in local government and not shy away from addressing the board because they are not being heard. As a village we need a board of independent thinkers who share a common goal of building and strengthening Lisle. Elected officials who listen to the residents, and not only allow for public input, but consider public input. Full transparency."

Lorna Turner
Lorna Turner was elected to her current term as Lisle village clerk in 2019. She has also served on the village's hotel/motel tax commission. Per her profile on the Prosperity For Lisle campaign website, Turner formerly worked as Assistant Division Manager at the Illinois Department of Revenue.
According to her Patch candidate profile, Turner believes "[l]ack of camaraderie among the board members" is the most pressing issue the village faces. Turner writes, "As the Village Clerk, my position is administrative, but I can continue to set a good example and perform my duties as required, remaining professional, with a level head and keeping the meetings to a standard. To continue to stay focused on the issues and keep everyone’s voices heard timely, would be one of my main priorities."

Lisle Village Trustee
Seven candidates are vying for three open spots (four-year terms) on the village of Lisle Board of Trustees. The candidates are listed below, alphabetically by last name.
Thomas Duffy
Thomas Duffy "is active in many community organizations, including the Lisle Senior Center, West Suburban Community Pantry, Meals on Wheels and the Lisle Park District," per his profile on the Lisle Forward campaign website.
Duffy's profile states, "He believes the backbone of our community are the small businesses. This inspired him to create Shop.Dine.Lisle, a program focused on how Lisle residents can support the community’s small businesses during COVID. He has worked with small businesses on understanding the challenges they are facing and raising money to purchase personal protective equipment for them."

Dan Grecco
Dan Grecco currently serves on the Lisle Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission. On the Lisle First campaign website, Grecco states, "I am seeking the position of Village trustee as a committed and loyal servant of my extended family, the Village of Lisle. With indifference to political affiliation, my dutiful purpose would be to help decide what is most fiscally responsible. This includes balancing the Village’s two primary functions of safety & public works, with an always caring eye towards decisions of future community development (Ogden Ave & Downtown.) If elected, it would be my cheerful promise to serve my full term as Village Trustee."

Marie Hasse
Marie Hasse currently serves on the Lisle Board of Trustees.
Mary Jo Mullen
Mary Jo Mullen has served as Lisle Township Supervisor since 2017. Mullen's Lisle Forward profile states, "Mary Jo has spent a lifetime of professional, personal and public service building the skills that Lisle needs to handle any crisis. She was elected in 2017 to be the Lisle Township Supervisor, where she oversees the social services administered by the Township. She has applied her experiences to building relationships with social service agencies and nonprofits to strengthen the ties of our community."

David Richter
David Richter currently serves as vice president of Lisle Park District. Richter's profile on the Lisle Forward campaign site states that he "has long been devoted to public service, and as a teen, spent five years in the Civil Air Patrol. He now volunteers heavily with the Village of Lisle’s Police Department and Lisle’s Emergency Management Agency. David leads our community in assisting the police force by handling auxiliary tasks like traffic direction, speed studies, search and rescue, and disaster preparedness. He actively coordinates with the department and has built strong relationships that he would bring to his role as a Village Trustee."

Robert W. Taylor
Taylor's Patch candidate profile states, "One of the first things the town should look into is establishing some guidelines through village code that prevent blighting our main business districts. I commend the current board for starting this with requiring painting boarded buildings with matching frontage colors. The next step is to not allow boarding up buildings at all throughout our business districts."
William W. Trussell
According to his Lisle First campaign profile, Trussell "has a track record of strongly representing Lisle residents’ questions, comments, and concerns serving on the Lisle Planning & Zoning Commission. William offers compassionate concern balanced with strong business acumen to his community along with a deep understanding of family values and business prosperity."
