Pecak Projected For Re-Election As Lisle Mayor

LISLE, IL — Lisle Mayor Christopher "Chris" Pecak is projected to win re-election, with 100 percent of precincts reporting in DuPage County after Tuesday's consolidated election. In the race for Lisle's Village Clerk, challenger Kristy Grau is projected to unseat current Village Clerk Lorna Turner.
The projected winners in Lisle's Board of Trustees race are Dan Grecco, Thomas Duffy and Mary Jo Mullen. Four open seats on Lisle Community Unit District 202's Board of Education are projected to be filled by two incumbents and two newcomers.

In his bid for a second term, incumbent Mayor Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak faced challenges from current Lisle Village Trustees Sara Sadat and Stephen A. Winz in the 2021 consolidated election.

Christopher R. "Chris" Pecak: 1,500 votes, 47.41 percent

Sara Sadat: 761 votes, 24.05 percent
Stephen A. Winz: 903 votes, 28.54 percent
About the Candidates
Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak
Christopher "Chris" R. Pecak started his inaugural term as mayor of Lisle in 2017. In addition to being involved in local politics, Pecak works as a project manager and is involved in the Cub Scouts and "multiple sports programs," according to his profile on the Prosperity for Lisle website. He received Lisle's Community Spirit Award in 2011.
Heading into the election, Pecak's campaign Facebook page stated, "Village of Lisle Mayor Chris Pecak is seeking reelection in 2021 to continue the progress made through lower taxes, increased transparency and accountability, a growing local economy and a sharp eye on fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets."
Sara Sadat
Village Trustee Sara Sadat started her term on the village board in 2019. She also serves as a board member for the Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation. When she's not involved in local politics, Sadat works as a project manager, a career she's held for more than 15 years.
In her Patch Candidate Profile, Sadat stated, "I am a mom of three, and am vested in this community. I am running for mayor to fix the mismanagement and lack of a clear direction to address the blighted downtown, repair the processes and to make Lisle a magnet of opportunity for young people and families, and a more hopeful place for those who have been left behind."
Stephen A. Winz
Village Trustee Stephen A. Winz started his term on the Lisle village board in 2019. In addition to being involved in local politics, Winz works as a crane operator, a career he's held for more than 25 years.
In his Patch Candidate Profile, Winz wrote, "There are tangible ways to evaluate success. One of those ways for me would be the development of the Family Square Property on Ogden and Main St. I would like to see some or all our vacant retail space become occupied sales tax generating space. I would like to see a more technologically interactive community with its government. Creating a space on mobile devices to easily view board meetings live and archived with thumbnails tagging each agenda item to a board packet making the process of being an informed community member much less cumbersome."
Lisle Village Clerk Election Results
Incumbent Village Clerk Lorna Turner faced off against challenger Kristy Grau in the 2021 consolidated election, but Grau emerged the projected winner, with 100 percent of precincts reporting.
Lorna Turner: 1,413 votes, 47.29 percent
Kristy Grau: 1,575 votes, 52.71 percent

Kristy Grau
Kristy Grau serves on the village of Lisle's Flood Information Committee, per her campaign's Facebook page.
Grau wrote, "We need to bring some civility back. Residents should be encouraged to participate in local government and not shy away from addressing the board because they are not being heard. As a village we need a board of independent thinkers who share a common goal of building and strengthening Lisle. Elected officials who listen to the residents, and not only allow for public input, but consider public input. Full transparency."

Lorna Turner
Lorna Turner was elected to her current term as Lisle village clerk in 2019. She has also served on the village's hotel/motel tax commission. Per her profile on the Prosperity For Lisle campaign website, Turner formerly worked as Assistant Division Manager at the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Heading into the 2021 election, Turner stated in her Patch Candidate Profile, "My family and I have served the community in many volunteer positions over the past 36 years that my family has resided in Lisle. I have always stepped up when asked to serve often times putting others' needs before my own."
Lisle Village Trustee Election Results
Seven candidates were vying for three open spots (four-year terms) on the village of Lisle Board of Trustees. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Dan Grecco, Thomas Duffy and Mary Jo Mullen are the projected winners.
Dan Grecco: 1,265 votes, 15.61 percent
William W. Trussell: 1,234 votes, 15.23 percent
Thomas Duffy: 1,239 votes, 15.29 percent
Mary Jo Mullen: 1,461 votes, 18.03 percent
David Richter: 769 votes, 9.49 percent
Marie Hasse (incumbent): 1,052 votes, 12.98 percent
Robert W. Taylor: 1,083 votes, 13.37 percent

Thomas Duffy
Thomas Duffy "is active in many community organizations, including the Lisle Senior Center, West Suburban Community Pantry, Meals on Wheels and the Lisle Park District," per his profile on the Lisle Forward campaign website.
Duffy's Lisle Forward candidate profile stated, "Tom’s career is focused on helping build efficient healthcare teams and programs. He is no stranger to working across different teams and departments to understand problems in a clear and apolitical way, focused on driving outcomes through collaboration. He brought this skill set to the Library Board and will do the same for our Village."
Dan Grecco
Dan Grecco currently serves on the Lisle Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission.
Grecco's Lisle First Campaign Profile stated, "I am seeking the position of Village trustee as a committed and loyal servant of my extended family, the Village of Lisle. With indifference to political affiliation, my dutiful purpose would be to help decide what is most fiscally responsible. This includes balancing the Village’s two primary functions of safety & public works, with an always caring eye towards decisions of future community development (Ogden Ave & Downtown.) If elected, it would be my cheerful promise to serve my full term as Village Trustee."

Marie Hasse currently serves on the Lisle Board of Trustees.
Mary Jo Mullen
Mary Jo Mullen has served as Lisle Township Supervisor since 2017.
Mullen's Lisle Forward profile states, "Mary Jo has spent a lifetime of professional, personal and public service building the skills that Lisle needs to handle any crisis. She was elected in 2017 to be the Lisle Township Supervisor, where she oversees the social services administered by the Township. She has applied her experiences to building relationships with social service agencies and nonprofits to strengthen the ties of our community."
David Richter
David Richter currently serves as vice president of Lisle Park District.
Richter's Lisle Forward Profile stated, "David brings with him unparalleled financial education and experience. He has been a supporter and owner of local businesses and is an active member of the Lisle Chamber of Commerce."
Robert W. Taylor
Taylor's Patch candidate profile stated, "I believe revitalizing our businesses districts and driving the sales tax revenue would be a great accomplishment. Ultimately, this will take longer than four years; however, getting the groundwork in to make this an ultimate reality is possible."
William W. Trussell
According to his Lisle First campaign profile, Trussell "has a track record of strongly representing Lisle residents' questions, comments, and concerns serving on the Lisle Planning & Zoning Commission. Five candidates were vying for four seats (four-year terms) on the Lisle Community Unit District 202 Board of Education. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the projected winners are incumbents Pam Ahlmann and Eunice McConville, along with Steven Lesniak and Gregory Nagler.
- Pamela (Pam) Ahlmann (incumbent): 1,292 votes, 25.11 percent
- Steven Lesniak: 1,088 votes, 21.15 percent
- Eunice B. McConville (incumbent): 1,015 votes, 19.73 percent
- Randee C. Sims (incumbent): 872 votes, 16.95 percent
- Gregory T. Nagler: 878 votes, 17.07 percent
