Lisle principal: 'Embarrassment of riches' leads to award winning performance.
Plentiful resources and a strong culture of learning contributes to success, according to a Lisle middle school principal

Kennedy Junior High Principal Brian Valek said he knows why his school was recognized with a National Blue Ribbon award. Valek explained to the Daily Herald that parents who want their children to succeed move to the area.
While only 33 percent of students in Illinois met or exceeded the standards on a statewide test this spring, 77 percent of Kennedy students met or surpassed the standards. According to the school's award application, Kennedy Junior High had a 97 percent attendance rate four years in a row. The school also has an engineering program, and students use Chromebooks for science class.
Only 279 Blue Ribbon Awards were issued to public schools across the nation this year.
